Timothy J. Kramer Speaker at Renewable Energy Revenues Summit USA

Timothy J. Kramer

Tim Kramer has over thirty years of experience in the commodity industry.  He started his career on Wall Street as a currency trader for Lehman Brothers.  Mr. Kramer then transitioned to the energy commodity sector by joining Louisville Gas and Electric’s energy trading team.  While there, he was responsible for procuring the energy requirements on behalf of Oglethorpe Power, which consisted of over 30 municipalities and co-operatives, representing over 5,000MW of generation.  He then became a principal in a start-up energy trading and marketing company, NP Energy, backed by UK-based National Power. Mr. Kramer helped to sell this company to Duke Energy where he subsequently took on a position at Duke Energy North America (“DENA”) as head of Duke’s trade floor.  He subsequently held positions running trading and marketing at Ceritas Energy (Quantum Energy Partners), and as Chief Commercial Officer at Conectiv Energy (PEPCO’s trading and marketing arm).  He then worked for Blackstone, serving as the Chief Commercial Officer for several of their private equity portfolio companies.  Mr. Kramer then founded CNIC LLC, which specializes in developing energy commodity financial products.  He partnered with the Intercontinental Exchange (ICE) to develop and publish the first-ever US National Electricity Index (“ICECNPIT”) and launched the first-ever electricity ETF (NYSE: AMPD).  AMPD has been nominated as “ETF of the Year ‘23” by ETF.com as the first-ever security that allows investors to directly participate in exchange-cleared electricity futures as a publicly listed product.  CNIC has developed additional energy commodity indexes and ETFS, including a US National Natural Gas Index, a revamped “All Commodities plus Power” index, a National Water Index and several power derivative products.

Mr. Kramer has an undergraduate degree in engineering from the US Naval Academy, and earned his Masters in Business Administration along with a Master of Science in Accounting from the University of Rhode Island.  He has been an Adjunct Professor at Rice University, where he developed and taught a course in Energy Derivatives, Trading and Risk Management.  Mr. Kramer is a Certified Financial Risk Manager by the Global Association of Risk Professionals.  He also serves on the Board of Directors for Homer City Generation and Wolverine Fuels.
